In an astonishing display of determination and skill, Dean Campbell and Cameron Crick achieved a historic victory at the 2025 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, starting from 66th on the grid and clinching the win in a dramatic finale at Mount Panorama.

The #118 BMW M2 Competition, fielded by CHE Racing, began the race near the back of the 72-car field. Crick’s aggressive start saw him leap from 66th to 32nd on the opening lap, reaching 10th by Lap 8 and climbing to fourth by Lap 11. This rapid ascent set the tone for what would become a legendary performance.

Throughout the race, Crick and Campbell navigated through multiple safety car periods and strategic pit stops. A late-race safety car bunched up the field, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion.

In the closing stages, Crick found himself in a head-to-head battle with Jayden Ojeda in the #1 BMW M4. Despite a late pit stop due to a tyre issue, Crick rejoined the race with unwavering determination. On the final lap, he executed a new lap record of 2:21.8817. Crick crossed the finish line just 0.8 seconds ahead, securing an unforgettable victory.

The race concluded with Campbell and Crick taking first place, Ojeda and Simon Hodges finishing second, and the trio of Aaron Seton, Todd Hazelwood, and Jason Gomersall in the #30 Ford Mustang securing third. Notably, this marked the first time since 2019 that a non-BMW car finished on the outright podium.

This victory not only set a new record for the lowest starting position to win the Bathurst 6 Hour but also highlighted the exceptional talent and resilience of Campbell and Crick. Their performance will be remembered as one of the most remarkable comebacks in the history of endurance racing at Mount Panorama.
